The first version of the Dual-Range Force Sensor (DFS-BTA), shipped in 1997 replacing the older Student Force Sensor. Over the years, the design has been updated and improved several times. Use the following images and descriptions to determine which version you have.

2018-current

The sensor casing has rounded sides plastic fins with a plastic product label.

Units less then 5 years old are still under warranty.


2009-2017

This version has the same plastics as the 2008 version, however, the silk-screened label used all CAPITAL letters for the sensor name.

This model is out of warranty, though it may be able to be repaired.


2008

This version has slightly smaller thickness, silk-screened labels (printed directly on the plastic), with the sensor name in Mixed Case letters.

This model is out of warranty, though it may be able to be repaired.


2004-2007

This version used paper labels and the cable did not have a strain relief coming out of the box.

This model is out of warranty and cannot be repaired.
Parts needed to repair this sensor (e.g., strain gauge or cable) are no longer available.
