The EV3 was designed to automatically identify EV3 and NXT LEGO sensors that have been connected to any of its input ports. Unfortunately, it does not have the capability at this time to auto-ID sensors from Vernier and automatically defaults to thinking a LEGO Sound Sensor is connected.

This causes an issue when trying to use the Port View app or trying to read a sensor reading in Port View of the MINDSTORMS EV3 software. To get instantaneous readings from the sensor you have two options:
1) Hover your cursor over the wire coming from the numerical value of the Vernier Sensor block.
2) Write a simple program to display the data on the EV3 screen itself: How do I get the sensor reading from the Vernier EV3 Sensor block connected to the Display block?

Another issue that this causes is in the oscilloscope view in Data Logging. Turn this view off because it is giving incorrect readings. If you are in the Data Logging software, you can select the proper Vernier sensor in the Sensor Setup and then download and run a data-logging program.
