This information pertains to LabQuest 2 and LabQuest 3.
The original LabQuest does not support this functionality.
Follow the steps below to wirelessly connect LabQuest 2 or LabQuest 3 to a computer, Chromebook, or mobile device running Graphical Analysis or Graphical Analysis Pro. This option is not available with the original LabQuest.
LabQuest setup
1. Connect the LabQuest to a Wi-Fi network.
a. Launch the Connections App
LabQuest 2—Tap the Wi-Fi icon in the LabQuest toolbar
LabQuest 3—Tap Connections App from the Settings screen
b. Tap the icon in the upper right corner to display the Network Settings dialog.
c. Ensure Wi-Fi is set to On.
d. Connect to the desired network.
e. Tap OK to exit the Network Settings dialog.
Data Sharing will not work unless both the mobile device and the LabQuest are on the same network.
2. Enable Data Sharing on the LabQuest.
a. From the Connections app, tap the Data Sharing icon to display the Data Sharing Settings dialog.
b. Ensure Data Sharing is set to On.
c. If desired, tap the box to allow connected devices to start or stop data collection.
d. Tap OK to exit the Data Sharing Settings dialog.
LabQuest will not stream data if this function is set to Off.
3. Rename your LabQuest.
a. From the Connections app, tap the Name icon.
b. Enter the desired name, which may include up to 16 characters, but cannot include special characters.
c. Tap Done when you are finished.
Identifying a specific LabQuest to connect to is easier if you change the default name, LabQuest, to something more meaningful.
Computer, Chromebook, or Mobile Device Setup
1. Download Graphical Analysis app for your platform
2. Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network.
a. Connect your device to the same network the LabQuest is using.
b. Verify that the correct network name is displayed.
Data Sharing will not work unless both the mobile device and the LabQuest are on the same network.
3. Connect to the LabQuest using Graphical Analysis app.
a. Open Graphical Analysis.
b. Select Data Sharing from the New Experiment menu.
c. Select your LabQuest from the discovered devices menu.
Note: If your version of Graphical Analysis has the Graphical Analysis Pro features unlocked, you will need to select the Local data sharing option in Graphical Analysis to see the discovered LabQuest units.
If the LabQuest name you are looking for is not displayed in the list, tap Specify Source and connect to the LabQuest by entering its name or IP address.
