This note is about Graphical Analysis data collection issues on Chromebooks when using any model of LabQuest interface, connected by USB. Both the web app version of Graphical Analysis and the Web Store version are affected, but the web app may be worse.

Chromebooks vary significantly in performance. Some will collect data without issue, while another will freeze or slow when using the same collection parameters. For example, a 60-second collection with a data rate of 200 samples per second with two sensors may be fine on one Chromebook, but fail on another. The failure consists of freezing or a message that the connection was lost.

Graphical Analysis 6.1, due in December 2024, includes a significant performance improvement for USB data collection. This version will resolve many of these freezing issues during data collection.

Before that release, workarounds include using a slower data rate, or running Graphical Analysis on a device with better performance.
