Engineering Project: Max Power
Experiment #9 from Wind Energy Explorations
- Education Level
- Middle School
Introduction
Wind turbines are constantly being redesigned to incorporate new technology and research. The intended use of the turbine also plays a large role in determining the final design, because using wind to pump water requires a different types of blade than using wind to produce electrical power.
In this project, you will construct two different wind turbines. One turbine will be designed to lift nine washers in the fastest time. The other turbine will be designed to produce the most electrical energy in 30 seconds.
Sensors and Equipment
This experiment features the following sensors and equipment. Additional equipment may be required.
