American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Foundation Eligibility: K-12

The AIAA Foundation has established a Classroom Grant program specifically for use by AIAA Educator Associates. If you are a K-12 teacher interested in the development or application of science, mathematics, and technology within your educational curriculum, you may qualify for a grant of up to $200 per individual request to supplement your learning program. Each school is limited to up to $1,000 per calendar year.

Use your grant for classroom demonstration kits, classroom science supplies, or other materials to enhance the teaching-and learning-of science, mathematics, and related technology. Requests are due 9 weeks before the planned purchase date.

The Lexus Environmental Challenge is a nationwide education program and contest about the environment that empowers teens to create a better world. Through this program, MIDDLE SCHOOL (Grades 6-8) and HIGH SCHOOL (Grades 9-12) students can participate in four initial environmental challenges about land, water, air, and climate.

Teams made up of 5 to 10 students and one teacher-advisor will define an issue, make a plan to address the issue, implement the plan, and report on the results within an online Action Plan. Sponsored by Vernier Software & Technology, the Ecology/Environmental Teaching Award will be given to a secondary school teacher who has successfully developed and demonstrated an innovative approach in the teaching of ecology/environmental science and has carried his/her commitment to the environment into the community. Vernier's sponsorship of this award includes $1000 toward travel to the national convention and $500 of Vernier equipment. Outdoor Classroom Grant Program Eligibility: K-12 public schools

The Outdoor Classroom Grant Program provides outdoor, hands-on science education to students in grades K-12 and assists schools in enhancing their core curriculum in all subjects.

This school year, the program will award grants up to $2,000 to at least 100 public schools. In some cases, grants for up to $20,000 may be awarded to schools or school districts with major outdoor classroom projects. The grants can be used to build a new outdoor classroom or to enhance a current outdoor classroom at the school. This program only considers outdoor classroom proposals.

Outstanding Young Educators Award Eligibility: under 40 years of age

Nominations for the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development's Outstanding Young Educator Award must be made before April 15th and October 15th of each year. To be eligible, teachers and administrators must be under 40 years of age and "demonstrate exemplary commitment and exceptional contribution to the profession." Educators can work with any grade level or with any subject area. For the current award, nominations may be made beginning in March 2008. For additional information, email oyea@ascd.org. Winning teachers will receive $1,000 educational grants from the Wal-Mart/SAM'S CLUB Foundation to benefit their local school and an honorary Wal-Mart greeter's vest. Winning teachers also have the opportunity to apply for state and national Teacher of the Year honors. Increased this year, state winners will receive an additional $10,000 educational grant. The state winners will automatically be entered in the national competition. The national winner will receive an additional $25,000 educational grant for a total of $36,000 to his or her school.
